     APPLIANCE SERVICE TECHNICIAN

        Job Description

• Reports to the Athol office each morning to receive daily schedule of service calls
• Drives to customer's homes within our service area of Northern Mass and Southern NH
• Diagnoses problems and defects with major kitchen and laundry appliances
• Communicates diagnoses, necessary repairs and costs to customers
• Orders necessary parts
• Receives payments in cash, check and credit card
• Prepares detailed customer receipts
• Maintains contact with the office staff throughout the day
• Maintains detailed daily time sheet
• Periodically attends one-day paid training classes
• On occasion, may be required to work in the office answering phones and scheduling appointments, assisting customers with retail purchases and/or doing repairs in the shop
• Other reasonable duties upon request

     This position is full-time and hours will vary, usually between 30 and 50 hours per week.

     Must be available most evenings and some Saturdays.

           Necessary Skills/Qualifications

               Responsible, honest, and ethical professional

               Strong written and verbal English language communication skills *

               Independent decision maker who knows when to ask for help

               Ability to take direction and follow instructions

               Excellent customer service skills

               High level of electrical and mechanical diagnostic skills

               Strong knowledge of basic electrical theory *

               Ability to read and interpret documents such as schematics, instructions and manuals *

               Basic math and counting skills *

               Valid driver's license and excellent driving record required

               Willing to drive and walk in wind, rain, and snow (not icy road conditions)

               Ability to lift and carry approximately 50 pounds for a few minutes at a time

               Ability to adapt to change and maintain composure under pressure/stress

               Own and maintain appropriate tools for the job (some specialty appliance tools are provided) 

               Refrigeration certification strongly preferred

               Professional appliance repair experience strongly preferred, but will train the right candidate with the basic skill set
